Approach
Working in the tropics is a discipline of restraint. Our buildings earn their calm from orientation, cross-breeze, and the honest weight of local material — not from decoration.
We read the land, the light, and the monsoon before we draw a single line. The plan begins with where the wind comes from.
Deep eaves, cross-ventilation, and shadow do the work that mechanical cooling shouldn't have to. Comfort is a design decision, not an appliance.
Coral stone, lime plaster, and Philippine hardwoods — we build with what the Visayas already makes well, sourced close to the site.
Rooms that cost little to run and only look better with a decade of tropical weather on them. We design for the twentieth year, not the launch photo.

Full architectural design — from feasibility and site study through construction documents, permitting, and turnover. Houses, hospitality, and commercial work at every scale.
Spatial planning, material and lighting design, joinery, and FF&E. Interiors that carry the same climate logic and material honesty as the building around them.
Masterplanning, public space, and landscape architecture. We read the wider site — street, garden, coastline — so buildings sit well in the world around them.
The Studio
Founded in Cebu City in 2012, Anila is a deliberately small practice — twelve architects and designers who stay close to every project from first sketch to final walkthrough. We take on a handful of commissions a year so that each one gets the studio's full attention.
The name is old — anila, a word for wind and air. It is the first thing we design with, and the first thing you feel when you arrive.
